History
Two partners - Mr Brent Dunteavey and Mr Jonathan
Redfeam, set up the company as a partnership in 1997 to research the
possibility of detecting tow levels of cigarette smoke with existing,
commercially available sensing technology. Both partners and staff have
an extensive knowledge and background in fire and smoke detection
systems, previously employed in technical and commercial roles within
the fire industry with market leading companies such as Walter Kidde and
Apollo Fire Detectors Limited. Technically qualified in electronics and
electrical engineehng, the partners undertook painstaking research into
the development of a unique alarm system that could potentially unlock
the market for detecting illicit usage of tobacco products in the
workplace.
In early 1999, the results of the companies
research culminated in the first commercially viable system to police
'no smoking' policies. The system, named 'The Cig-Arrete Anti-Smoking
Alarm', created major media interest when the product was launched, with
international press, TV and radio coverage detailing the unique nature
of the product and Its potential applications.
This overwhelming Media PR was quickly turned into
sales, with the company showing healthy trading profits in the first
year. Major market developments included schools, hospitals and private
business operating in food packaging and production.
In late 1999, the partnership became a private
limited company with each partner acquiring 50% of the shareholding.
Each shareholder is now a Director of the company and continues to
oversee the development of new markets, new products and manage the
future profitable trading performance of the company. |
